PLACES OF INTEREST IN DOMPU
MOUNT TAMBORA
Mount Tambora (or Tamboro) is an active stratovolcano, also known as a composite volcano, on the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia. Sumbawa is flanked both to the north and south by oceanic crust, and Tambora was formed by the active subduction zone beneath it. This raised Mount Tambora as high as 4,300 m (14,100 ft), making it formerly one of the tallest peaks in the Indonesian archipelago. After a large magma chamber inside the mountain filled over the course of several decades, volcanic activity reached a historic climax in the super-colossal eruption of April 10, 1815. The 1815 eruption was approximately VEI 7, the only eruption of that size since the Lake Taupo eruption in about 180 CE.

With an estimated ejecta volume of 160 km3 (38 cu mi), Tambora's 1815 outburst was the largest volcanic eruption in recorded history. The explosion was heard on Sumatra island more than 2,000 km (1,200 mi) away. Heavy volcanic ash falls were observed as far away as Borneo, Sulawesi, Java and Maluku islands. Most deaths from the eruption were from starvation and disease, as the eruptive fallout ruined agricultural productivity in the local region. The death toll was at least 71,000 people (the deadliest eruption in recorded history), of whom 11,000–12,000 were killed directly by the eruption; the often-cited figure of 92,000 people killed is believed to be overestimated.
The eruption caused global climate anomalies that included the phenomenon known as "volcanic winter": 1816 became known as the "Year Without a Summer" because of the effect on North American and European weather. Agricultural crops failed and livestock died in much of the Northern Hemisphere, resulting in the worst famine of the 19th century.
During an excavation in 2004, a team of archaeologists discovered cultural remains buried by the 1815 eruption. They were kept intact beneath the 3 m (9.8 ft) deep pyroclastic deposits. At the site, dubbed the Pompeii of the East, the artifacts were preserved in the positions they had occupied in 1815.

SATONDA ISLAND
Satonda is a small remnant volcanic island, south of the Flores Sea, north of Sumbawa and
northwest of Tambora volcano, with a unique habitat – a crater lake filled with seawater. Because
the lake has lost all direct connections with the open Flores Sea, the lake water has acquired higher
alkalinity, pH and carbonate mineral saturation than the surrounding seawater. Such conditions are
apparently hostile for most marine macrobiota, which were therefore excluded from the lake.
LAKEY BEACH
Lakey Peak, is one of the most famous surfing spot in Indonesia and is close to the city of Hu'u Dompu, Nusa Tenggara Barat Indonesia. The beach is white and the water is of an incredible turquoise color with nice sand and few corals.
Characteristics
The best season is from April to October. It's better not to come from November to March but you can find epic surf at the south coast or in Hu'u Dompu Central Sumbawa Nusa Tenggara Barat.

DAY 1 :
Pick up Poto Tano harbor West Sumbawa, transfer to La Pade beach Utan then cross by speed boat to bedil island, Activity, Swimming, Snorkeling, (Lunch at Warung on the way back to Sumbawa Besar).Afternoon after Snorkeling at Bedil Island, heading to Sumbawa Besar (Overnight in Dewi Hotel) Sumbawa Besar.

DAY 2 : Sumbawa Besar –
Calabai (Dompu)
Jam 08.00 Leave Sumbawa Besar by Motorized boat, heading to Calabai harbor Dompu.
Jam 09.00 Arrive in Calabai, Transfer to Kedindi Homestay
(overnight di Kedindi Hotel ).
DAY 3
After breakfast transfer to Base Camp in pancasila Village, preparation, then proceed to the Forest Gate by Motorbike in 30 minutes. Trek to POS II in 3 hours, resting time at POS II. after Coffee and Tea Time, trek in another 3 hours to POS III, arrive in POS III before dark (Overnight in POS III.
DAY 4
Early morning by 01.00am trek to the peak of Tambora (2.851m). this trek will need 5 hours before arrive to the crater just before Sunrise. after enjoying the amazing view from the peak, down the same path to POS III for having lunch. After Lunch walk down to POS the Forest Gate, Arrive in Forest Gate late afternoon before Dark, then by Motorbike transfer back to Pancasila Base Camp (Overnight in Pancasila)
DAY 5
After Breakfast, transfer to Calabai harbor. heading to Moyo island
Arrive in Tanjung pasir, Eastern part of Moyo island by mid day, (Lunch will be served on boat).
