Hunting is one of the Most Famous Tradition in Sumbawa island, the three ethnic gruops thus; "Samawa" (Sumbawa), "Mbojo" Bima and Dompu, Known this tradition and called different as they have different languange and dialect. In Sumbawa itself Hunting used to be held separated means (on Personal as a hoby or fulfilling needs) or in a group as a mutual cooperation. A mutual cooperation is still exist among the comunity on the island, and it is has been passed from generation to generation, one of these cultures can still be found in a unique and remote village, the village is located south of Sumbawa island surrounded by vast mountain and to reach it must pass through the road uphill and steep. trip to this village needs a special type of vehicle such as jeep or Land Cruiser. deer hunting culture in this village is called "MAIN ASU", because local people use some choice dog to hunt deer in the woods. usually they will gather in a field with their respective duties, the women prepare the means of cooking, while the men hunt and prepare for other needs. This cultural event is usually held in the dry season is between August and September. and local community leaders will announce to the villagers when the event will be conducted.
Travel time to reach this village by using vehicles such as jeeps adventure is approximately 3 hours, but along the way you can enjoy the beautiful scenery around.
