SUMBAWA TOURISM



Tourism in Sumbawa island is still far behind from Bali and Lombok, The road infrastructure is still in the stage of completion, access to areas which have the potential of tourism also has still not fixed.

Accommodation facilities are still not adequate, won't even be enough to accommodate the visitors, Not so many tourist information here and not so many tour packages offered by both the Government and the Tours & Travel Agencies.


If you're in Sumbawa, don't expect you will find out Tourist information Center, you will only find one lane traffic from the West to Bima District in the Eastern Part of Sumbawa Island. Along the way, you'll see a lot of things that may be unfamiliar to you, as well as natural scenery, the beaches, the wonderful blue sea, Lonely Wonderful bay and the beautiful small islands. But you will only see a few of them. This is because the natural beauty, where snorkeling and diving and surfing, hidden at some point on the island. Just come to the North of Sumbawa, or its Western part that is rich in potential and beauty of nature, or to the Southern part to see the beautiful white sand beaches, that is also a paradise for surfers. To see all the beauty of nature that are hidden on Sumbawa island, you must do adventure, 2 days on this island you can only see one or two interesting object or even you see nothing if you don`t ask some good information before you go. The Sufficient time to be able to see some interesting things on the island are four or ten days. In the Western part of Sumbawa Island, you can visit several interesting beaches and world-class surfing spots, such as Sekongkang Beach, Rantung beach, Maluk Beach, and Jelenga Beach. The beach is white sand beaches with some accommodations available. Don’t expect too much when you come to this place, because in here, there are only beautiful natures, no party or discotheque.
Several waterfalls and beautiful Caves are can be found in this area, but once again you will only be able to see it if you have the time to go for Adventure. A beautiful natural lake will welcome your arrival. “Lebo Lake”, West Sumbawa society named it like that. At the Lake you can fish or just use a small Cano to see its beauty around.
After you use the ferry for 1, 5 hours from East Lombok to West Sumbawa, you'll see a pretty little island named Kenawa, to reach there you only need 15 minutes by Motorized Outrigger boat. In This small island you can snorkel or dive. The beautiful white sand and clean and charming small hills will be the new thing in your journey.
The next destination is some beautiful islands located not far from the port of Poto Tano West Sumbawa. Those are Keramat Island, Bedil and Temudung Island. But the most interesting one is Bedil Island, because at this Small Island you will see the beautiful coral reefs with many colorful small fishes. To reach the island, you can use a fast Boat from the beach of Labu pade, in 5 minutes you will arrive at the beautiful island of Bedil.
In North of Sumbawa Island there are several beautiful islands that some of which has became a favorite place of important people from all around the world. Two of which are the island of Satonda and Moyo. Moyo. The island holds a great fascination of nature; this place is a heaven for Honeymooners and those who want to isolate themselves. Its nature is so beautiful; there are a lot of snorkeling and diving spot. While in the middle of the island there are Wonderful waterfalls, the rivers that resemble the natural pools are blue and green.
Not far from the island of Moyo in the Bay of Saleh, there are 14 small islands, and all of them have not yet to be explored. To visit the beautiful island, you could use some lines, that is, from Sumbawa Besar, North Sumbawa, and East Sumbawa. Most of the island is uninhabited. Getting there is like being in our own island. When you are in North Sumbawa, you will see the beauty of the mountain of Tambora, which has the largest Crater in the world and the deepest Crater in the world. The mountain erupted in 1815 it was one of the most intense eruption of volcano in the world. Now Tambora Mountain became one of interesting places to visit, the beautiful scenery as well as its location in a strategic line of Sea Adventure to Komodo Island.
On Sumbawa, the visitor can also do tours of the inheritance, i.e., visit some of the historical heritage of culture and history of the ancient Kingdom. some of which are Royal palaces of Sumbawa, which consists of 3 palaces, that is, Dalam Loka Palace, The Yellow House, and the Country Hall. in some of the hills not far from the town of Sumbawa Besar, you can also do Soft trekking or adventure, to visit some of the remains of the sarcophagus, which is charming, thus are Raboran Site, Aik Renung Tomb Stone, Temang Dongan Sarcophagus and the site of Lutuk Batu Peti.
Heading to the Southern of Sumbawa Island, you will find several beautiful white sand beaches, in the Southern Part of Sumbawa island there are some places that have already developed into a tourist destination and some are not yet to be developed, thus are Lunyuk Beach, Bara Mbako, Sili and Maci. The famous Lakey Beach with its big waves and a paradise for surf lovers is one of the world class surf spots that have been experiencing developments, some accommodation available there, ranging from low budget to expensive budget. Couple of times international surf contests are held here to go to the beach is easy; the access to Lakey is a paved road that seamlessly has been provided by the local government. In the meantime, some other wonderful places like the beach, of Sili, Maci, Bara Mbako and Lunyuk in Sumbawa region has not been developed by the local government. .

THE BEAUTY IN SALEH BAY - SUMBAWA

Saleh Bay is the largest bay in the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia, roughly on the north central part. It is semi enclosed by Moyo Island and the peninsula of Tambora, Sanggar Peninsula. 3 larger islands in the bay are Liang Island, Ngali Island, and Rakit Island. 3 of the 4 regencies of Sumbawa border the bay. Another Wonderful small islands are spread out and adjacent to each other. Saleh by can be explored from many sides, Thus are from Sumbawa Besar, North Sumbawa, East Sumbawa and North Dompu.

THE TOMB STONE OF AIK RENUNG - SUMBAWA

Found buried in soil in 1971, spread out over 5 point of location, is a historical heritage, its location in the land of Sumbawa called Aik Renung, which later became the embryo of the village of Batu Tering, a little over 6 miles from the location of the sarcophagus. The beautiful landscape can be found around this place, The Lush and green forest are just around it. To get to this place must be with the use of special vehicles, because access is Rocky road. Then for 10 minutes soft trekking to the location.

LABU JAMU - THE BIGGEST FISHERMAN VILLAGE IN WEST NUSATENGGARA

Labu Jamu is the biggest Fisherman Village in West Nusatenggara, located in the Eastern part of Sumbawa District. Lied at the edge of Saleh Bay Sumbawa, with many Fisherman's Ship park at the sea. The people of Labu Jamu distribute their fishes to many place in both island of Lombok and Sumbawa. The other point of this place is close to many beautiful island around, such as Bakau Island, and Rakit island.

NANGA MIRO, SO CLOSE TO SATONDA ISLAND

NANGA MIRO is a hidden place in the Northern Part of Dompu, Affordable place by any kind of vehicle. can be reach in 4 hours drive from Dompu District. Cross to the Wonderfull Satonda island is just need 15 minutes or 20 minutes by Motorized Outrigger boat. The Pristine and lonely beach with Stunning view of Satonda and Tambora Mountain is the great point of Nanga Miro.

THE STUNNING RIA BEACH - SOUTH DOMPU - SUMBAWA ISLAND

Ria Beach is located in the Southern part of Dompu District, affordable place by any kind of vehicle. It is only 15 minutes drive from Woja Sub - district Dompu. Ria beach has Wide and white sandy beach, Pristine beach with small fisherman village around.
